Market Research Student Paper Competition
GfK is proud to present the first annual Next Generation Market Research Competition to be hosted in conjunction with ARF RE:Think 2012 in March. In the ever-changing, fast-paced corporate world, marketing researchers must be able to think on their feet and bring innovative ideas to address emerging business problems. This competition is designed to give student researchers a chance to test their marketing knowledge by creating a marketing research project that addresses a critical issue weighing on marketers’ minds daily. The winning team will:
- Receive a cash award of $1,000
- Attend the 2012 ARF RE:Think Conference in New York (conference registration, travel and hotel expenses paid)
- Present their project to the leading marketing and advertising research minds in the industry at the annual ARF Great Mind
The Competition
The project must use primary research using valid qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies to address one of the following topics:
- ISSUE 1: Emerging Mobile Markets
What do marketers need to know to successfully take advantage of the explosion of smart mobile devices?
- ISSUE 2: Impact of Social Media
What is the impact of social media on purchase decisions?
- ISSUE 3: Other Emerging Marketing Issues
Choose another area of emerging importance to marketers

RISE-Kupu
RISE-Kupu, in collaboration with Honolulu Clean Cities, is seeking:
- a current graduate-level student or recent graduate (having obtained an undergraduate or advanced degree within the last two years)
- has a background in market research and interest in reducing petroleum use in ground transportation by increasing the use of EVs in Hawaii
The intern will play a leading role in the execution of a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant awarded to the University of Hawaii Maui College (UHMC) entitled, “Clean Cities Community Readiness and Planning for Plug-In Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure.” The position is based on Oahu with some travel to Maui, pays $15/hour, and requires a 15 hour/week commitment for a full year beginning in late October 2011.

Maui Jim Sunglasses
A unique internship awaits you! Why is this unique? This position is located in Lahaina Maui. This internship will require students to take a one-semester leave of absence while they complete this internship. The position is Full-time and pays $18.50/hr. There are three openings, and the selected interns will be travelling throughout the Hawaiian Islands to dispense sunglasses at corporate events.
- The Interns can choose to work from January through May or January through July.
- Inters will receive academic credit in addition to the experience and the salary.
