Networking Workshop + Upcoming Professional Mixer
Once again, AMA-UHM had a successful professional development workshop Wednesday, March 4. Twenty five AMA members were given useful and applicable networking skills they can use in interviews or at our upcoming professional mixer. A brief summary of key points that were covered in the networking workshop:
- Think of yourself as a marketing plan, or what can you provide the listener. Sell yourself. (Whats in it for the professional talking to you?)
- Practice active listening with positive body language and eye contact.
- Don’t talk to much or crowd the conversation. Allow the dialog to encompass both yourself and the professional.
- Tailor your diction to the person whom you are networking with. Practice with your friends or more importantly, people older than you.
- Do your research on the person who you are networking with. (Use Google to get background information on the firm or person)
- Dress appropriately for the situation. (Professional mixer: Business causal attire REQUIRED)
Professional Mixer@ 3660 on the Rise- Required Event for Active Status
Ryan is requesting that everyone be there at 4:30 p.m. Please be on time and dressed appropriately. This semester we are running the program differently to allow for more active involvement. The professionals in attendance are all members of the AMA professional chapter and have paid money to attend the event (in other words they are excited to be there).
Thanks for your continued participation with AMA-UHM. Get ready to market yourself!
